If you are looking for a Nissan extended warranty solution, keep in mind that the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranties that are included in your Nissan purchase usually cover items under the hood like the engine and transmission wear and replacement along with internal components and electrical. However, each car manufacturer offers a different set of coverages.
As to Nissan, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Three Years, 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
In addition, Nissan owners receive Powertrain Warranty of Five years, 60,000 miles whichever comes first.
You can learn more about Nissan OEM information here, or consider a Nissan extended warranty solution from olive.com® -MBIs or VSCs.
All About The Nissan Manufacturer’s Warranty
How long does a Nissan manufacturer warranty last for?
Every new car sold by an authorized Nissan dealer in the U.S. will have a limited car warranty:
A three-year or 36,000-mile limited bumper-to-bumper warranty
A five-year or 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty
A five year rust warranty (regardless of mileage)
The warranty is provided to the original purchaser and any other future owners as long as the car is still within the warranty time frames above. The warranty begins as soon as you buy the car.
What’s covered in a Nissan manufacturer warranty?
A Nissan warranty will generally cover any repairs (or replacements) needed to fix factory defects on materials and workmanship of parts and components.
You may also be entitled to towing coverage if your Nissan breaks down on the side of the road, and in some cases, you could be eligible for reasonable trip interruption benefits like:
- Meal
- Lodging
- Substitute transportation
- Costs to bring the vehicle to you after warranty repairs have been completed
What does a Nissan bumper-to-bumper warranty cover?
Nissan’s bumper-to-bumper warranty covers repairs for the first three years or 36,000 miles. The following are some examples of parts that are covered:
- Air conditioning
- Braking system
- Electrical system
- Electronics
- Engine cooling
- Fuel injection
- Powertrain (engine, transmission, driveshaft, differentials and axles)
- Seals and gaskets
- Steering
- Suspension
In general, any part that Nissan supplied with the car will be covered for those first three years or 36,000 miles. Depending on the Nissan model you buy, some service adjustments not associated with the replacement of parts may be covered for a specific time regardless of mileage:
- Wheel alignment and wheel balancing (1 year coverage)
- I-Key and key fob batteries (1 year coverage)Original wiper blade inserts (6 month coverage)
What does a Nissan powertrain warranty cover?
Nissan offers a powertrain warranty that lasts for a total of five years or 60,000 miles. The Nissan powertrain warranty only covers repairs or replacements due to factory defects on:
The car’s powertrain (engine, transmission, the driveshaft, differentials and axles)
The car’s restraint system (airbags and related electronic control systems)
What does a Nissan rust warranty cover?
Like the powertrain warranty, Nissan offers a rust warranty that lasts for a total of five years but the mileage doesn’t matter. It will cover repairs or replacements of any original body panel that develops a perforation from rust-through due to corrosion in normal use.
What’s not covered under a Nissan manufacturer warranty?
The Nissan dealership will decide whether you’ll get a repair or a replacement of a part and they will make sure the problem is due to a factory defect. You are required to provide consent to give Nissan access to the data that’s stored in the car’s system so they can provide a proper evaluation.
A Nissan warranty will not cover any damages due to:
- Abuse or negligence
- Accidental damage
- Airborne chemicals, road debri, hail and any other environmental condition that can affect the car Alteration or tampering of original parts
- Improper repairs
- Installation of non-genuine Nissan parts
- Lack of recommended maintenance guidelines
- Misuse of the car, like racing or driving it recklessly
- Normal wear and tear (including dings, dents, chips or scratches)
- Fire
- Theft
- Water contamination
Does a Nissan warranty cover tires?
A Nissan basic limited warranty doesn’t cover your tires. You’d have to buy a separate warranty for your tires.
Does a Nissan warranty cover maintenance expenses?
A Nissan warranty doesn’t cover normal maintenance services. However, as a condition of the warranty, you are required to keep up with the recommended maintenance schedule of the car: For example, engine tune-ups, oil changes and replacements of brake pads.
What happens after the first three years of warranty are up?
After the first three years or 36,000 miles of Nissan’s limited bumper-to-bumper coverage, which covers most of the major parts of your car, you will have the powertrain warranty to cover you for two more years or until you reach 60,000 miles.
Though the powertrain warranty may protect you for an extra 24,000 miles, it only covers factory defects, so repairs that come up due to normal use are not covered. Also, if you have long commutes, the miles will add up quickly.
After the first three years, most of the financial burden of repairs on your new car becomes your responsibility.
How do olive’s Vehicle Service Contracts and Mechanical Breakdown Insurance Solutions extend Nissan’s manufacturer warranty?
Aftermarket warranties are available to help cover the cost of expensive repairs when your manufacturer’s warranty runs out. VSCs and MBIs, for example, can provide comprehensive coverage beyond a basic manufacturer warranty. You have the option to choose coverage you’ll really need on a low-cost monthly plan and have the freedom to choose any repair shop near you to get repairs.

Nissan Vehicle History
Nissan was founded in 1933 under the Nissan Group in Yokohama, Japan. The auto division broke off in 1934 becoming Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. During the late 30’s Nissan built trucks, airplanes and engines. Using an integrated assembly system, they built for the Imperial Japanese Army. In 1937 American company Graham – Paige supplied the plans and plant facilities for Nissan had obtained a Graham license. In the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s Nissan partnered with many car companies like the Austin Motor Company and then later merged with Prince Motor Company. Throughout the years, vehicles were sold under both the Datsun and Nissan brand. Datsun vehicles were produced from 1931 – 1984 and Nissan vehicles from 1937-current.
Nissan formed a US subsidiary, Nissan Motor Corporation USA in 1960 and by 1970 Nissan had become a large exporter of vehicles. In 1984 the Datsun brand was phased out and by 1985 cars were produced under the Nissan name. In 1989, Nissan introduced Infiniti. Infiniti was created as the luxury vehicle division of Nissan. Nissan and Infiniti are both headquartered out of Yokohama. In 1990 Nissan North America, Inc opened its North American operations and became fully operational making cars like the Altima and the Quest minivan. Nissan also begins expanding into the UK, China and Europe.
Today, Nissan has over 16 plants worldwide and sells to over 160 countries. As a global company, Nissan continues to focus on providing value to its customers and shareholders. In 2015, Nissan won the naming rights to the home of the Tennessee Titans and the Tennessee State University football teams in Nashville. The Nissan Stadium hosts the two teams proudly. Nissan continues to lead the automotive industry with its development of electric cars. Their electric cars are sold in over 48 world markets and the 2018 Nissan LEAF was named “2018 World Green Car”. In fact, The Nissan Green Program promises to focus efforts to address environmental issues important to all of including, better air quality, water scarcity, climate change and resource dependency. It is a basic principle that we can all get behind.

yes, olive.com® is transferrable.
Why are cars with mechanical breakdown coverage more likely to command higher resale value than their uninsured counterparts? Having a mechanical breakdown coverage plan on your vehicle proves to buyers that your car, truck, or SUV has been well cared for. In most cases, purchasing a vehicle that has mechanical breakdown coverage means that the owner has already fixed those vehicle-specific problems that are common to that specific make and model.
Given a choice between two identical vehicles, one with mechanical breakdown coverage transferring with it, and the other without any sort of guarantee, a consumer’s clear choice is the vehicle that is covered. olive.com® helps mitigate vehicle depreciation by adding resale value to your ride. olive.com® is coverage when you need it, and, when you no longer need it, olive.com® is coverage you can transfer when you sell your vehicle.
olive.com® our coverage is backed
Extended car warranties are like a promise, only as good as the person making it.
Last year, over 40 million used cars and trucks were sold in the US alone. Many dealers try to include a Nissan extended warranty for used cars sold, but are all extended warranties the same? In a word: no. Extended car warranties are like a promise, it’s only as good as the person making it.
olive.com® is backed by an insurance provider with a long history of satisfying their customers. They’ve secured a consistent “A” rating from A.M. Best and an “A+” rating from Standard & Poor. We only partner with the best, so our coverage can be the same: the best.
An olive.com® plan is an excellent alternative to a Nissan extended warranty, it’s frictionless coverage backed by an insurance mainstay.
the true cost of ownership
Vehicle complexity is higher than it has ever been, which also causes car repairs to be pricier than they’ve ever been. The average length of a car loan now sits at 68 months. Over that five-year period of ownership, the average cost for repairs/breakdowns is between $2,000 and $3,000. Many drivers are a breakdown away from taking a serious financial hit.
But it doesn’t have to be like that, olive’s plans act like an extended auto warranty, paying for serious mechanical repairs as they come up. But, unlike an extended auto warranty, an olive.com® plan covers more parts than your average extended auto warranty, and olive.com® is backed by an insurance underwriter with a consistent “A” rating from A.M. Best, an “A+” rating from Standard & Poor. olive.com® is coverage backed by a rich history of success.

new car owners
A new vehicle is a significant financial investment and one that can depreciate quickly. Taking care of your investment is vital for the retention of its value. olive.com® helps keeps your vehicle in pristine condition without the stress of having to pay for large, out of pocket expenses.
expired manufacturers’ warranty
There’s a reason your manufacturer’s warranty only covers bumper-to-bumper repairs for the first 3 years/36,000 miles. After this magical date, your vehicle is likely to require expensive repairs. olive.com® goes way beyond your vehicle’s original warranty, letting you rack up the miles with confidence.
families
Between soccer practice, laundry, dinner, and impromptu water-balloon fights, we know that family life is a busy life. olive.com® is here to take the worry out of a mechanical breakdown, so you can keep on schedule and on budget.
educated consumers
It’s smart to be leary of over-priced dealer extended warranties (which carry up to 300% markup!) olive.com® plans cover the big expensive parts and all the little parts that connect them together. olive.com® is affordable, direct from the underwriter, coverage.
olive.com® the difference
Our olive.com® Ultimate protection plan not only pays for the covered components, but it pays for the labor and the metal hoses, couplings, seals and gaskets, linkages, and control valves (just to name a few). Now that’s coverage superior to an average extended warranty!
When you start adding up the cost of diagnostic time, parts, labor to install the parts, accessory parts, fittings, hoses, gaskets, and couplings, the true cost of a repair becomes a bloated, nightmarish affair.
olive’s budget-friendly monthly fee makes a ton of financial sense. olive.com® coverage acts like an extended warranty, without the financial headache.
